Alternatives

An EmailEngine alternative, hosted.

workwae puts mail, calendars and contacts behind one hosted API, and our team imports your EmailEngine accounts with their grants.

Last checked October 17, 2026
Why teams switch

What changes when you move.

EmailEngine is self-hosted and workwae is hosted, so the trade-offs run both ways.

No servers to run

No servers, Redis or workers on your side, where EmailEngine runs on yours with a Redis database. E1

Calendars, contacts and meetings

Calendars, free/busy, CalDAV, CardDAV and Zoom and Webex meetings sit behind the same API, where EmailEngine covers email. E3

A synced, searchable index

Messages are indexed as they sync and searchable in full text, where EmailEngine fetches bodies from the mailbox on demand. E2

Webhook history and replay

Signed webhooks come with a delivery log, replays and a change feed, where EmailEngine keeps no delivery log. E1

Side by side

Moving over

We run the import with you.

We read EmailEngine 2.x accounts, OAuth apps and templates from its Redis, so users keep their grants and EmailEngine serves until you switch.

Migration guide
  1. Dry run

Nothing is written; each account is listed as importing or needing a reconnect.

  2. Apply

Each account is written in its own transaction and announced with account.connected.

  3. Reconnect the rest

Flagged accounts sign in once through hosted connect, and you point your app at workwae.

FAQ

Questions teams ask.

Can we self-host workwae?

No. workwae is a hosted service on AWS in the United States, so if mail must be processed on your own servers, EmailEngine fits better.

Will our users have to sign in again?

Only the accounts the dry run flags for a reconnect. Everyone else keeps their existing grant.

What does workwae cost?

We set pricing with each early-access team. We will publish plans before general availability.
